Mark's journey to a confident smile began with the realisation that his failing dental bridge was impacting his quality of life. "I started off with a bridge, which eventually began to fail. I knew it was causing damage to my bottom teeth, so I decided to come to 21D to get everything sorted out. The bridge had lasted a long time, but I felt that, at 67 years old, it was time for a fresh start - which is exactly what it’s been.
Before, I didn’t like to smile. You end up avoiding showing your teeth, and that makes people think you’re not in a good mood. Now, a year later, it’s 10 times better. It’s really been fantastic. It’s given me back my confidence. I didn’t want to go for crazy white teeth, so I opted for a more natural look to suit my age. The result doesn’t stand out too much, which I really like.
One of the main things I’ve missed is nuts. Now, with the final prosthetics, I can eat them properly again, and that’s been great. When I had the bridge, I was always scared it would fail or come out, so I had to be very careful about what I ate. Now, I can eat anything with confidence.
I chose 21D because they’re close to home, and if anything were to go wrong, I’d be able to get it sorted quickly. Luckily, nothing did go wrong, but I’ve heard of people going abroad for this kind of work, and it’s a long way to go back if there’s an issue. For me, it’s absolutely been worth it.
Even at my annual checkup, they went above and beyond. It was better than I expected, to be honest. I mentioned that my bite didn’t feel quite right, so they scanned everything again, made some adjustments, and got it spot on. They even called me back to fine-tune it further, which they didn’t have to do. They could have just said, “That’s fine,” but they took the extra time. I’m really pleased.
I’ll admit, I didn’t like the dentist to begin with—it’s something I’ve felt since I was a child. Even coming in for a checkup today, I was a bit nervous. There’s probably not much to be nervous about now, but it’s just something that sticks with you. That said, the team here really puts you at ease.
I did my homework before choosing 21D. I picked them because they were nearby, and I knew if anything went wrong, I could always come back. For anyone considering this, I’d say it’s an investment in the long term. Yes, it costs a bit, but it’s not just for one year—it’s for many years to come. And for me, it’s been absolutely worth it."
